Every notice the official record turned up, gathered under the person it was found for, so nobody has to be searched for one at a time. A search cannot tell one John Smith from another — open the notice, see whether it is your resident, and say so.
Confirming records the notice against the person. Dismissing hides it from their page. Either can be undone here, which is what the confirmed and dismissed views are for.
